Please note:

The following "Worst To Best" list was written before I saw "Bats!" And "Rarity Takes Manehatten". Any possible references to those episodes are pure coincidence. Thank you.

Ok guys, I now have done overviews of all 3 seasons of MLP FIM. Season 4 doesn't count and it wouldn't be fair to overview it right now because, 1, It hasn't gotten all it's episodes yet, and 2, I have yet to have seen 2 of those episodes that have already come out. Now, I am going to place each of the season 1 episodes in order of my enjoyment of the episodes and list reasons why. Remember, worst episode 1st, then end with the best. Also, some star ratings have changed and I need to fix them on the overview. Let's go.

25. Owls Well That Ends Well. I am sick of jealously stories! They always make someone the bad guy every single time. Not to mention, why did the main 6 fawn over Owlilisus the same way they did to Spike early on in the episode?! The difference being, they knew Spike for about a few months. This is the 1st time that they met Owlilisus. Also, Twilight makes up an excuse that she needed Owlilisus at night, when a majority of the episode takes place during the day. Despite all this, I really like Owlilisus. He just is that helpful, faithful little owl, and his design is quite adorable. Back on topic, can a jealously storyline be made with it being that no one is a bad guy? No one is at fault, just a misunderstanding, and having a bit of humour involved? Oh wait! That has already been done earlier this season. We'll get to that.

24: A Bird In The Hoof. I think my main problem with this episode, is that the bird being treated is disgusting for a majority of it, and I hate gross out humour. And the bird isn't even sick at all. It was just tricking Fluttershy all the time. Granted, Fluttershy was being her kind self and was willing to help the bird get better. And then Philmenea did apologise for it and came out looking stunning at the end. I also liked how Celestia was trying to get her subjects to lighten up a bit around her and try to break formality, and the pop culture reference to "Alice In Wonderland" at the beginning had me giggle a bit.

23: Look Before You Sleep. The main problem I have with this episode, is that it was average. There wasn't really anything that stood out to me. I did like how this episode was a slumber party, and it kind of makes sense that Twilight may want a slumber party. It's just one of those things you wonder about, but don't know if you would like it or not. We have seen in a later episode that the Canterlot ponies can be very uptight, and Twilight may have been antisocial because of this. Also, Twilight may be more panicked then usual to find a tree in her house and may have forgotten how to get rid of it. As for Applejack and Rarity, their auguring may be childish, but I got a few laughs out of it.

22: Applebuck Season. Again, this episode was ok. I like how Applejack is getting tired gradually and then messing everything up, and her dog Winona has turned into my favourite of the 6 pets. However, like with "A Bird In The Hoof", the gross out humour with the "baked bads" holds this episode back from going higher on the list.

21: A Dog And Pony Show. The main problem I have with this episode is, why did we need half an episode about Spike's crush on Rarity? I mean, we already have that shown in earlier episodes. I did like how Rarity was able to get the Diamond Dogs to let her go on her own accord, and how the other 5 were greatly surprised as a result.

Ok, here on out, the episodes are safe from my worst episodes list but don't get a spot on the best list.

20: Over A Barrel. I don't know why this episode isn't any higher. Maybe it's because it didn't seem to do many outstanding things like some of the other episodes. I did like the "I'd Like To Be A Tree" part. While it came out of nowhere, it is just an adorable moment for Fluttershy.

19: Stare Master. This was the 1st episode that shows the CMC as a group. And they are just adorable and endearing. Fluttershy also gets her moments to shine, though I do wish I could have heard the rest of that lullaby.

18: Winter Wrap Up. I love how this episode gets everypony involved in the community. And I love how Twilight is ready to help the ponies out in anyway possible and never gives up at any opportunity. There is a great letter at the end, and the episode has some funny moments. Also, freaking love that song! And another thing, remember that mention about Twilight not having wings? Foreshadowing for season 3 finale perhaps...

17: Boast Busters. I love how this episode touches upon the concept of someone not wanting to show up someone else. Twilight is a bit hesitant to show off her talents because she doesn't really know the other 5 too well. And I love The Great And Powerful Trixie, and believe or not, I like Snips and Snails too.

16: Bridle Gossip. While the moral isn't reached too well, I love how Apple Bloom acts, the animation shows off how well the show can pull off with flash, the "Evil Enchantress" song was entertaining, and the gags with poison joke were hilarious! And Zecora does well in representing African people.

15: The Ticket Master. With a lot of character development, interactions and getting to know each other better, this episode also shows some of the best comedy the show has ever made. We are also introduced to Angel Bunny, who is shown to be quite helpful here.

14: The Show Stoppers. Clearly an under-appreciated episode in my book. Every single worst list of season 1 or worst list of every episode to date in MLP seemed to have it somewhere and I have no idea why the hell that is! The CMC are even more endearing in this episode then they were in "Stare Master", and it's the 1st episode that properly shows them as a group without a member of the main 6 in the way. It also establishes their hidden talents, and it does make the perfect set up for any fanfictions about them getting their cutie marks. I sure wish I could put this higher, but there are so many other good, and dare I say, better episodes.

13: Griffon The Brush Off. This is where Pinkie Pie starts to get extremely good as a character. It also takes the concept of a real life problem. Bulling someone isn't a good thing. But it does have some brilliant twists. Pinkie Pie starts to consider the possibility that they are wrong, even when we know she is in the right. And also, the main character Twilight, has faults, and they don't have to ram it down our throats by making it the main focus. Pinkie Pie also tries to make friends with Gilda by throwing a party, something you don't usually see in children's cartoons. They seem to go the "get revenge" approach. But, no, this throws in a new twist. Good writing Cindy. Also, I didn't even guess that Rainbow Dash was the one to set up the pranks not specifically for Gilda. Excellent work.

12: Feeling Pinkie Keen. If there is one episode that isn't structurally sound but I still find pretty good, it's this episode. I mean, you have to admit it, there are so many funny jokes here that make you laugh out loud. And also, the Pinkie sense is a fantastic running gag. I think my favourite is "Earflop, eye flutter, knee twitch." Or is it, "Earflop, knee twitch, eye flutter"? Uh, "Eyeflutter, Earflop, Knee twitch?". I don't know. It's the one that means, "Watch out for opening doors". And, there is so much you can do with the Pinkie Sense. I think I'll make up some of my own.

11: Best Night Ever. Just missing the top 10. Ah yes, I can hear the keyboards typing from here. "How could you place the last episode of season 1 as not an episode in your top favourites?" Well, here's the problem. I didn't like seeing the main 6 suffering at the gala. They could have made the episode a bit more worthwhile. I mean, what if the main 6 were getting what they hoped for at the gala, and then maybe Spike would try to get them to spend time together, but then the ponies would push him to the side so they can get their fun? Despite this though, I did think that the whole twist of the cliche "dream coming true" thing was pulled off quite well. In fact, had it not been for Digeybrony's review of that episode explaining why this episode works so well, this would most likely be at the bottom of my worst list. Also, "At The Gala" is my favourite song of season 1, and I love "The Pony Pokey".

Now it's time to celebrate. Let's get to the top 10 best episodes of season 1.

10: Friendship Is Magic, parts 1 and 2. Ah yes, the pilot episodes. For a good show, it needs to start off with a bang and boy does this season do that. We get introduced to our main characters and the interactions flow through very smoothly. And if a show is going to be good, it needs good characters, that is my favourite aspect of the entire show. The 2nd part is an adventure story which comes to a great climax and gives us my 3rd favourite aspect of the entire show: The Elements Of Harmony. Shame they were given up in season 4, but we will get to that when we get to that.

9: Fall Weather Friends. This is a fun episode. You have Applejack and Rainbow Dash in a friendly rivalry competition, Twilight as the middle ground, and Spike and Pinkie Pie commentating over the whole thing. I love the combos of characters in the show, and they should do it more often.

8: Call Of The Cutie. I loved how well that a mature moral is placed into this story. This is the pressure to fit in with others your age. Having a cutie mark, is like the equal of acting like you are older and "being cool", for lack of a better word. Apple Bloom is desperate to get her cutie mark, and is trying to force it on to herself because Diamond Tiara and Sliver Spoon are trying to get Apple Bloom to think that she isn't a member of the "cool" ponies. And I will say, when I watched this episode again during my little depression when my ponysona was lacking a cutie mark and being left out of the fun, I was really rooting for Apple Bloom. And here is where the show throws up the unexpected. I was sure Apple Bloom was going to get her cutie mark by the end of the episode, but instead she got something far better by not having it: 2 new friends. It also introduces my 2nd favourite thing about this show: The founding of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

7: Party Of One. Oh my goodness, Pinkie Pie's mental breakdown was out of the blue. I have no idea if it's the funniest thing I've ever seen, or the creepiest thing I've ever seen. But it's definitely the weirdest. Other then that, the comedy in the episode is some of the best ever. I mean, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy going to look after a bear's cave? Megan MaCarthy, how did you do that?

6: Swarm Of The Century. Just missing the top 5 is this episode. Man did the show get good here. Everyone is a full realisation of themselves and gets great moments to shine. This is also where the humour got perfected. Every visual gag hits home, and the timing is amazing. Great 1st shot M.A Larson. You really know how to write these ponies well!

5: Sonic Rainboom. I think this episode appears on every best episode list and for good reason. Take a simple thing, a talent show, place in a fantasy twist, put it in the sky, add in characters with layers of depth playing off each other perfectly, put a reference or 2 in there, add some good jokes, spice it up with great character development and top it all off with stunning animation! Phew! No wonder BucBrony has this as his favourite episode of season 1.

4: Suited For Success. This episode is amazingly good. You have an all star cast, brilliant animation, great devolvement, and some fantastic twists in this one episode. Also "Art Of The Dress" was super catchy. It's without question why that this episode is the staff's favourite episode to date. And loved Rarity's overdramatic performance and the "Crazy Cat Lady" joke.

3: Green Isn't Your Colour. How do I describe this episode? Rarity and Fluttershy figure out the moral for themselves, Photo Finish, Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie were hilarious, and no one is at fault here. And I love how they made something like a fashion show, into something that I wasn't expecting at all! Thank you Megan MaCarthy for breaking all cliches and doing something refreshing and entertaining!

2: Dragonshy. I guess I really like Miss MaCarthy this season, since all her episodes of season 1 have appeared here. I really love this episode a lot! Everypony has her moment to shine. Twilight acting as group leader, Rainbow Dash wanting to defeat the dragon as quickly as possible, Rarity acting as a fashionista, Pinkie Pie acting random, Applejack as her humble self, and Fluttershy standing up to the dragon. I can definitely see why VoiceOfReason became a brony right after this episode. Megan MaCarthy, best 1st shot of the entire season!

And if you have been focusing, my number 1 episode of season 1 is....

1: The Cutie Mark Chronicles! Oh my goodness. The 1st ever flashback episode we ever have, and every story is inter-winded perfectly. I love how the stories are connected because of the Sonic Rainboom. Great to see Larson have consistency with his episodes. And the main 6 as fillies are... The... Cutest... Things... EVER! Every flashback had their own special twists to them, and there is so much potential  for full on fan fictions about them. I'm already getting ideas. As a sidenote, I guess I also really like M.A Larson, as all his episodes have appeared up here from season. And best finish for M.A Larson this season.

I would seem to think that in Season 1, Applejack starred in the first few episodes a lot more as well as Twilight Sparkle.
