Deviation Actions
Description
Back on Sodor, Henry, James, Alice and Peter were in their shed, and Geoff was visiting them to give them support. It was the old Vickorstown sheds. The NWR heritage society had decided to use it as a shed for the engines they had bought.
“I wish that the NWR didn’t have to be modernised.” Said James. “I mean, steam engines are equally as capable of handling trains as diesels are.”
“I know you are.” Replied Geoff. “But Norman Spencer doesn’t understand us like Sir Stephen and his father and grandfather did.”
“Be lucky James,” Alice continued. “That we are not bound for the scrapheap. Then we’d really have a reason to feel worried.”
“That's it exactly, Alice.” Peter agreed. He might have only been running the mainline for about 4 months, give or take, but he knew being preserved by a heritage society was better then nothing.
“I suppose you 3 have a point. But still, it’s a shame all our friends had to leave.”
“Yes.” Agreed Henry. “I remember when we would head up to Elsbridge. Thomas would always be there for a bit of a chat with Annie and Clarabel about the latest news on the Ffarquar branch.”
“Oh yes.” Alice smiled. “And I remember the early days of when Eric was running here on the Kirk Ronan line. He would always ask for advice on how to do things.”
“And then there’s Edward.” Added Peter. “He might be old, but he has quite a few surprises up his funnel.”
“It’s a real shame that Edward didn’t get preserved like the rest of us.” James sighed. “He didn’t deserve to be left like that, after all he has done for everyone.”
The other engines had to agree, and hoped that Edward would be safe in his hiding place.

In WildNorWester's original draft of his 'to be titled' special, Peter didn't even exist yet. I didn't want to leave him out, so I snuck him in here. I think it was a good idea to have a few engines running heritage trains and tourist trains along the mainline, as it does at least technically keep a few engines at their old home. The last one in this 'prologue' I guess, is Edward.
